brake stop lights

why does the stop lights stay on when car is off i checked everything and i have to take off the fuse for them to go off.?

I have replaced the brake light switch and followed the wire all the way to the front and found nothing wrong with the wire. Family member wrecked the car before i bought it and after he wrecked it they started staying on. Can the brake shoes have anything to do with it?

No it is the brake light switch keeping the lights on. Here is a wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and the location of the switch so you can replace it or readjust it below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
