Transmission problem
1999 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Automatic

car drives in D,1,2,3 when put in R it only reves and will not move. jacked car off ground and shift to R and still on reved put in nuetral and wheels turned as if in D,1,2,3 took shift cable loose at transmission same response. Put cable back. Do I have a shift cable problem or transmission problem . the problem began on Monday 05-31-2010 no problem prior to this date.

Hi there,

I would be thinking that there is a transmission problem. the rotation in N is normal this is just a bit of torque feeding down the drive line, i would check that there are no transmission codes in the ECU first, start here.
