1998 Nissan Altima Windshileld Wiper Problem

My driver side wiper is not working at all. The passenger side works just fine, but the driver side does not move. Do the wipers operate on two seperate wiper motors, or do they both run on a single motor.

at the bottom of the wiper arm u have a nut that may be covered by a plastic cover
remove it
tighten nut
