1998 Nissan Altima Car stops when idle at a red light

Hi,

My Altima shut off whenever I am idle at a stoplight or when I switch to reverse. The car does turn back on though. What do think I should check? Could it possibly be the fuel pump? or something else? Please let me know.

Hi Rubs ,

You need to check the idling system, ie, throttle body and ISC. Cleaning them with carb cleaner and readjusting the idle speed should help.
