1997 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 140k miles

when I push the AC button it do not come on but the AC blows warm air

with engine hot turn blend door from way hot to way cool. does it go from very hot to ambient temp outside on the coldest setting or it stay the same
