I have a 95 Nissan altima gle, 4 cylinder 2.4 liter. I recently changed the air filter, fuel filter, oil, and oil filter, which i've done on numerous occasions on other cars I've owned. The car starts fine, but it will not go into gear. The rpms go up, but no acceleration in any gear. I can't even feel the automatic transmission shift in to any of the gears. The next day I tried to crank the car up but the battery was dead, which is due to the brake lights staying on when the car is off and no one in it. Which was not happening before I did any of this regular maintenance. Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Hi team121908,

The brake lights staying on is most probably due to a bad brake switch stopper on brake pedal. The rubber stopper has broken off not allowing the brake switch to be turned off.

Check the transmission fluid, hope you have not mistakenly drained off the fluids.
