2002 Nissan Almera car keeps cutting out

2002 Nissan Almera Two Wheel Drive Manual 150000 miles

my car has been cutting out recently at first it had run out off water after filling up 3 weeks ago it would now seem its not i was stuck in traffic when it first happened any ideas what it might be i put super unleaded in it tonight and it seems to be running better could it be dirt in the engine.

start by having the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic scanner to locate any fault codes stored on the cars computer and repost with full codes
