clicking/ratcheting in rear when in reverse, is my diff shot?

More than likely it is the rear CV shaft(s). Inspect the boots for cracks/tears/rips and leaking fluid.

If the boots are leaking grease, then that would be the problem as opposed to the diff.

Water and debris gets in the joint and causes metal to metal contact.
