1993 Nissan 300ZX speed will not go above 40mph

1993 Nissan 300ZX 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 175000 miles

My car is not allowing me to go above 40mph. The RPM are reveing up to 4 @ 40mph. Change fuel filter, oil and filter. Please advise

At 4K rpm you should be running at 80 mph

the exhaust system for an excessive backpressure/throttle position and vehicle speed sensors/check the fuel pressure.
