I just bought a Nissan 300zx and I have experienced a couple of issues since the purchase. #1 the gas will occassionally idle rough. Then other times while driving the car I can smell gas. I am also experiencing very poor gas mileage. About 8mpg. It should get no less than 20mpg. There is no check engine light on so I don't think that it is the oxygen sensor. Please help.

Replace your fuel filter and check fuel pressure. The injector pintles may need to be removed and cleared of varnish. Check the evaporative emissions or rollover valve on the top of the tank for proper operation. Check the purge solenoid and charcoal canister.
