1984 Nissan 300ZX Ignition switch

I need to replace the electronic part of the ignition switch. The haynes manual only shows replacing the entire assembly by removing the steering wheel and drilling out bolts that attach to the steering column. Big job. Can the electronic switch be replaced in place? Please help

If your talking about the ignition switch it self the one that sends power to your starter when you turn the key?Then look's like it come's out pretty easy i emailed you a diagram of how it's done to your personal email.
