1977 Nissan 280Z no power

I've got a 1977 datsun 280z with inline 6 cyl that runs fine till it gets good and hot and then just slows to a stop and dies,will not crank again till it sits several hours.I'm thinking maybe the coil?

Just to clarify there terminology here, you are saying that when it is hot it will not turn over with the key? or it will crank on the key and will not start and run?
