On Nissan SOHC V6 engines it has most likely bent some valves if it happened while engine was running. I have heard of a few instances of it breaking while the starter was engaged and not bending any valves. I would carefully put the engine back in time so as not to bend valves in the process, replace the belt and tensioner, then try to start it. If it misses or backfires, you might want to run a compression check on all cylinders. This will tell you if you have bent any valves. If you go with a used engine, use the belt and tensioner from above and install in replacement engine before installation. Good luck.
