Every couple weeks there's a lot of crud buildup on the negative terminal. I am not expieriencing any other problems, but am worried the crud will start corroding electrical. Note - Battery is four years old and may be a bit under-rated for this car. What can I do?

Hi there ,

Thank you for your donation.

Have the battery load tested and if suspect replace, also have the alternator charge rate checked for over charging. To clean battery terminals mix BiCarb soda and warm water, (2 table spoons of Bicarb to about 1/2 litre warm to hot water ) apply to terminals and acid will fizz and dissolve, keep flushing all acid away when clean, flush with clean water, when dry use a quality battery terminal anti corrosion spray and coat both terminals.
