I just got a 240 and had it running for about 20mins before it sent a water pump into my hood and through the radiator. I have replaced the radiator and water pump now and the car is not starting. It turns over just fine but seems to have no spark. I have been checking the coil and it dosent seem to have spark going through the coil. I did replace it with a new one but there still is no response. Also there was a splice in a wire but it is fixed. Just wondering what else it could be?

Hi ktmblack,

There are so many reasons for the coil not to be sparking. Have you checked for power supply? Any fuses blown?

The water pump flying around could have done some damages that you have missed out.

If power to coil is available, you should check the crank and cam sensors first, those are the signalmen for the coil.

I have checked for the other damage that has been done but all I can find is a wire above the radiator was cut. I spliced it back together and it is fixed. I looked for those sensers but can not find them in the repair manual. Could you tell me where they are located at? I did find the crank angle sensor in the distributer but not sure if that is it.

Hi ktmblack,

Since there is a distributor, the cam and crank sensors are there.

Did you check for blown fuses? The broken wire could have shorted and cause some fuse to blow.

Did you check for power supply to the distributor when ignition is turned on?
