Verify the "battery" light on the dash turns on when the ignition switch is turned on. That circuit is the turn-on circuit for the voltage regulator in the generator. If it does not turn on, check the connections in the plug on the back/side of the generator.

Check for full battery voltage on the large bolted-on wire on the back of the generator. If that is missing, we will need to look if that goes right back to the battery through a fuse link wire or if it connects to the solenoid terminal on the starter.
