A battery is sort of a critical part of your vehicle.

Most folks look for the highest cold cranking amps.

I understand the pocket book situation fully.

If you were selling your rig, I could see going cheap, but from the sound of your question (like what is the best brand), looks like your rig is a keeper and you want to do it right.

My big concerns with a battery is the most CCA and a darn good warranty. Nothing like a year blows and an additional week or two and "Boo-Yow" the battery is toast and so was that warranty! My Jeeps are forty and seventy one years old, only the best for the both of them.

In my area there are four big auto parts stores.

I am going to see if I can help you out a bit more, You may have to do some current homework (like I do!). Do some dry runs through the checkout to insure your code works. I usually can beat the ones advertised on the site. But you know $40.00 is well worth twenty to thirty minutes of computer time for me.

I follow the same idea, the biggest battery I can fit in the box and still close the hood. The neat thing with the Cruze is that the battery tray is made to fit a much larger battery than they usually come with. GM sold them in other countries with diesels before they offered them here. As such the battery box can be expanded to fit the monster group 94R battery that is 850 CCA!

Brand wise, there are only three or four manufacturers who supply 99% of the auto batteries sold in the US. I buy local and with a good warranty.
I normally run a Duralast, DieHard (both made by Johnson Controls Inc) or Interstate, depending on the vehicle and what I can stuff in there.

I got a Bosch from Pep Boys-650 CCA, with a three year. warranty.

The higher the CCA rating the better off you will be, modern cars rely on a very stable current and cheap low preforming batteries just d not cut it these days, the extra investment in a quality larger capacity battery that fits in your car the better off you will be in the longer term.
