beetle with a trunk in the front

My neighbor has a beetle with a trunk in the front. Is the 2003 supposed to? He looks at mine weird but his is older. Thanks Thomas

Older Beetles from the 1970's had the engine in the rear, so the trunk was in the front. The newer version has the engine in the front, so the trunk is in the rear.
