Need to replace the water pump?

First, Let the engine cool completely, raise the front safely, and remove the lower engine splash shield.

1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Before removing the belt, loosen the water-pump pulley bolts while the belt is still holding the pulley. Don't remove them yet.
3. Release the tensioner and remove the serpentine belt.
4. Remove the water-pump pulley.
5. Remove the water-pump mounting bolts and work the pump out through the available opening. The factory procedure does not call for removing the engine or timing components just to replace the pump.
6. Clean the mating surface carefully and install the new pump with new gaskets. Kia specifically calls for new gaskets and also specifies that one of the pump bolts—the designated sealing bolt—be replaced rather than reused.
7. Reinstall the pulley and belt, refill the cooling system, bleed the air out, and check carefully for leaks.
