need to replace screws and tighten bracket from shift cable

I am a mother of 6 and have no idea where to find it. I can't afford to have someone do it for me. Do I go under ?the car or through ?the inside. Where do I find it what does it look like. I am handy with tools and can get things done I just have no idea what I am looking for or how to do it

have alocal guy look at it first as it may be something more than what you think it is. On eis under the dash by steering column of if floor shift under console. but it may have broken something so should be looked at.
