Need to know about a piece on the rack and pinion?

I need to know is that lip on the rack. Opinion where the houses are connected is that lip is solid or hollow.

If you mean where the lines come out near the steering shaft input there are passages inside that direct the fluid into the steering valve. The other end of those lines goes to the opposite sides of the piston in the rack that provides the assist. So yes they are hollow in places.
