Cannot find part for replacement gear shift kit knob kit for my car.

I had it removed by auto repair but I am not comfortable driving it since the gear knob can move if I hit the knob by mistake. The part I believe is not bring manufactured anymore. Anyone have any idea what I can do or where I can find this part?

Hello, I am Danny.

Just a quick question. Can you use your Smartphone to upload a picture here of the broken component? Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Repair shop says it it a shift lock kit? In other words the entire mechanism that allows the gear shift to lock between shift changes. Hope this does it. Thanks

Sounds like you mean the detent actuator has failed. The piece that moves when you push the button on the side of the knob to move it to reverse or park or the lower gears.
That would probably only be available at a salvage yard as a complete shift assembly.
Go to www. Car-part. Com enter in the information and that you are looking for the shifter assembly and it will show you a list of salvage yards in the US that have the part. The ones I see on there for my area run about fifty to eighty dollars.
