So I finally found out that my PCM is not grounding one of my fuel injectors and needs replaced, which is not a huge problem except for one thing, the OEM number. Taking the entire PCM out intimidates me because one mechanic told me that once it is completely unplugged it has to be re-flashed. Which stinks because if I could get the OEM number it would only cost me $200.00 for the part, and $60.00 to flash it, and $150.00 for installing. Otherwise it is $1,175.00 for the part plus flash and install. So what would be a simple cheaper way to go about this? If I have to pay the $1,175.00 then I will but I really do not want to. Any ideas? Thanks!

Wow is that it? I thought it had to be a certain number only on the PCM itself, but if that is the OEM number I need then you just saved me! Thank you!

Those are the latest revised part numbers for that vehicle. As they update the hardware and software they alter the numbers so that you can tell what the unit is without needing to scan it to determine if it is the latest version. IE: the new version may have better transistors in the injector driver, or maybe they discovered that a different chip worked better.

Every change like that gets a different number. That is one of the ways they track problems in parts.

I tried the link you gave me and it did not work, maybe because it does not work for a mobile. But, I did try entering the U1 part number on Napa. Com and it brought up two results. Its part number is different than the one I entered but the pictures for both matched the PCM that is on my truck. Should I trust it? Have I found my part? They are both also listed as re-manufactured, what do you think? Thanks!

Remanufactured may be all that you can find. Except used. I doubt if anyone is making new ones anymore for a 2002.
Ask Napa why their numbers are different, what is the difference and if it will fit, etc. I am sure they will know better than I would about the products this list or perhaps the manufacturer or whomever rebuilt it if the website or napa tells you.
To check a new one, try www. Fordparts. Com, although I will try there, too.
Once there click on model, then select the year, make, model and then click search catalog.

Yes, they do have some, 160 to be exact. http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2002&m=Ford&mo=Explorer&initSearch=1&keyword=control%20module#Search
I know you said links do not work for you, but try anyhow.
Try to narrow that down by entering your vin at the top of this page I just gave you.
If not, give me the VIN number.
