Okay, I have a six speed manual transmission and my shifter cable broke. I tried to hook up new cables and for some reason I cannot figure out why the gear pattern does not work right. Can you tell me how to reinstall them and hook the linkage up right and send me some pictures how they go? Please and thank you.

Hello,

Yes, this cable can be tricky. If you get the cables hooked up wrong it will jam the transmissions.

Here are the instructions on how to do it with some diagrams:

6-SPEED M/T

REMOVAL

Remove the shift knob.

Remove the spring and the cap (for 6-speed M/T).

Remove the skirt (for 6-speed M/T).

Remove the console upper cover.

Remove the console assembly.

Remove the shift cable clip.

Remove the select cable clip.

Remove the snap pin of the select cable.

Remove the shift cable.

Remove the shift lever assembly.

CAUTION: For 6-speed M/T, push the plate shaft outward with a driver or equivalent through the hole in the shift lever bracket to remove it.

Please let us know what happens so it will help others.

Cheers, Ken

Manually put the transmission in neutral. Then put the shifter in neutral then connect the cables, If you need to move one of the shift arm or the shifter to get them on it is wrong and you will need to make an adjustment unitll they go on without movment.

The cable broke so I just cannot put the new cables on without taking the shifter assembly apart? Tell me how to put it in neutral manually. Show me by picture where neutral is at. And what to do not make it all jammed up.

I do not have a picture, but you will need to have the shifter in neutral and the transmission.
