I'm getting a code 1610 and another 16 something. They are both for NATS. NATS malfunction. What would cause this? Do I need to replace the immu or is there a separate code for that? Thank you for your help!

Hi,

It's important to know the other code. In this case, the 1610 indicates the system is in lock mode. I need to know how the other code ties in.
If you look at pic 1, it explains something you can do without a scan tool. Try this and let me know what happens.

Hi,

The 1613 indicates there is a malfunction of the ECM internal circuit of IMMU communication line.

Here is what the manual indicates:

P1613
Vehicle ALL Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC ) Testing and Inspection P Code Charts P1613
P1613

see pic 1

Self-diagnostic results: "ECM INT CIRC-IMMU" displayed on CONSULT-II screen
1. Confirm SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS "ECM INT CIRC-IMMU" displayed on CONSULT-II screen. Ref. part No. B.
2. Replace ECM.
3. Perform initialization with CONSULT-II.
For initialization, refer to "CONSULT-II OPERATION MANUAL IVIS/NVIS".

I have to be honest, the key itself could be the issue. If you use an unregistered or damaged key and try to start it five or more times with a bad key, it will lock the system.

If you have a spare key, do this. Disconnect the battery for about an hour. Reconnect the battery and see if it starts using a known good key.

Let me know what you find.

Since I got this car it hasn't run. Had a blown head gasket. I swapped out the motor. Lost the key. Drilled out the ignition, found the key, called a locksmith and had a key programmed to this ECM about a month ago, because I had replaced the ignition after I drilled it and the new key locked my ECM , so he unlocked it and gave me a new key. I was able to turn the car over again. I actually got it started a couple of times. Then I lost spark and I haven't gotten it back yet.

Hi,

Is the anti-theft light staying on all the time? If you clear those codes, do they come right back?
