This happens specifically between 35-40 mph (fifth gear). If I have driven for a period of time it stops occurring (about an hour). I can feel it in the gas pedal and the sound cuts out immediately when I lift my foot off the pedal. Happens with and without traction control on. In and out of 4wd. It does this in auto/manual shift with even intervals between the noise. You could set your watch to this. Link below to a video I uploaded to YouTube. Anyone able to give some insight as to what might be causing this?

If the attached video doesn't work you can check the video I uploaded to YouTube:

Good morning,

The first thing that comes to mind is a universal joint. It will give you a vibration on the accelerator pedal as well as noise.

I would have the universal joints checked to see if any are locking up or seized.

Seems odd to me that it would only happen when in fifth gear and repeat in a cycle like does. If a u-joint is going bad you don't usually get that kind of specific conditions for the noise? I am doing the tires this weekend and I'll have a look at the u-joints. To me this seems more likely to be related to transmission though.

I understand but if it was the transmission, you would have other issues and it would do it all the time.
