I have a 2002 chevy cavalier 2.2L/fuel injection SL SPORT COUPE that's been surging while driving at a constant speed once I give it gas as to go faster or pass someone I have aLL the power with NO surging. LIKE I said before at one constant speed it surges until I go faster. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN?

Check for engine vacuum leaks, check fuel pressure regulator, if the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. Most parts stores will do it for free.

Yes im replying to your answer my engine light has not come on if it did I would of gone to a parts store tohave engine scanned for trouble codes which I have done in the past.I will check for vacuum leaks check fuel pressure regulator IF it is the fuel pressure regulator where is it located and howMUCH for the part. ALSO one more thing if it is neither one of these problems what other problems could there be? I just put a new catalyst converter on a few months ago so I don't think it is that. I thinking maybe fuel filter or plugs maybe even a fuel injector. What do you think? Please reply back thank you. Wayne

The regulator is on the fuel rail. As far as plugs, that wouldn't cause this type of problem but a fuel filter could.
