I have a 1998 Pontiac grand am se, 2.4L twin overhead cam automatic. I have a big problem I just did a tune up, spark plugs, spark plug boots, and oil change, air filter and fixed a few vacuum lines, car passed smog with zero emissions and is now completely registered, after all of this I noticed a rough start up but the car ran fine and would sputter sometimes while driving around 50-60 mph, then when I start up sometimes it would idle rough then level out just below 1000 rpm, just about two hours ago I was parked in front of a friends house and the car just died, tried to start back up but the engine and idle were really rough and then it died again and it did this about 4 or 5 more times before a check engine light came on and started blinking and I scanned the check engine light and it is a P0300, random misfire on all cylinders. Now when the engine is started up and gas is applied the car chokes out and dies

A plugged fuel filter can cause this as well as an ignition control module. It sounds like a big deal but it's not. It's the flat part under the coil packs

Remove all the packs from the icm and look for corrosion on the prongs. You can try cleaning them first

Check the plug on the ICM and make sure that it's plugged in tightly also check the wires coming out of the ICM plug to make sure there are no breaks or frays in the wiring. Also if you have a test light or a meter check for power at that plug.
