Hi,

If they are plastic components, you need to have a flex additive in the paint to prevent cracking.

Also, you will want to match the color. There are a million shades of silver. Your vehicle will have a paint code. Use that to get the correct color.

I attached a pic below showing where the paint code should be listed. It will have three characters (numbers or letters or both)

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

joe

Hi,

If you have the correct color, it should. I noticed that the label indicates automotive and plastic. So, I would think it is what is needed.

Let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe

I meant can I use that to paint my car another color entirely, along with using primer and clear coat?

Hi,

Yes, it can be used on your vehicle, but it is black. Also, it is an acrylic enamel paint. You don't use a clear coat with it.

Let me know. I think I'm answering the question. I don't know for sure if that is what you meant.

Take care,

joe

Hi,

Make sure the Dupli-color requires a clear coat. As far as the primer is concerned, it should be fine. After painting with the primer, allow it to fully dry and then wet sand with 1000-grit paper.

Is trying to the touch good enough? I heard this one dries to the touch in a minute or so.
Also do I have to sand it?

Hi,

As far as sanding, I'm not sure what you are repairing, so I don't know. Drying to the touch in one minute is extreme. I would allow it at least 24 hours when you finish to make sure it is okay to touch.

Painting my side skirts and spoiler silver as they were originally black. Do I sand this? Also, what happens if I don't wait 24 hours and just start painting over it?

This is what I orginally had in mind: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.instructables.com/Give-an-old-car-a-new-life-50-paint-job-color-c/%3famp_page=true.

Using spray paint to turn my car silver to black. Exactly what I wanted to do. I can use primer, sand paper, spray paint, and clear coat. Is this a smart move?

That would work. As far as waiting, you want the paint to be dry before you touch it. And yes, if you add more coats of paint, you don't want it to be completely dry.

What would work? Painting my side skirts silver or spray painting my car black? Or both would work?

The spoiler I bought says gloss black and the side skirts are also gloss black. Will any gloss black spray paint match with both of them?

I know only a little about cars, so I am trying to have a professional sand and paint my car using the sanding equipment, primer, spray paint, and clear coat I provide. I am guessing this is safe enough to do if they do it? I want my car to turn out good. Or is it easy enough for me to do?

Hi,

If you are using a spray can, it won't turn out as good as having a professional do it with professional equipment. Also, believe it or not, there are different shades of black.

Hi,

That is a hard question to answer. I don't know your experience/ability. However, a professional should know exactly what to do.
