For some reason when I go to turn my key on the go to start my car my Park light is on but also my D4 light is flickering. Would you be able to let me know if you know what it is?

Hi,

If it is showing two gears at one time, it can be a few things. In this case, I would recommend having the computer scanned to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes that will point us in the right direction.

If that can't be done, there is a gear position switch in the console that may be failing. Here are the directions for removal and replacement. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the front console, then disconnect the 14P connector from the A/T gear position switch.

2. Remove the two mounting nuts.
3. Position the switch slider to "Neutral" as shown.
4. Move the shift lever to "Neutral", then slip the switch into position.
5. Attach the switch with the two mounting nuts.
6. Test the switch in the [P] and [N] position of the shift lever. The engine should start when the shift lever is in position [P] anywhere in the range of free play.
7. Connect the 14P connector, clamp the harness, and install the front console.

Once you have access to the switch, here are the test procedures. Pic 2 correlates with the directions.

3. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.
- Move the shift lever back and forth without pushing the shift lever at each switch position, and check for continuity within the range of free play of the shift lever.
- If there is no continuity within the range of free play, adjust the position of the switch.

Please understand this is a guess without scanning the computer. However, if you test the switch, we can eliminate one of the steps of diagnostics and repair.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.
