My car has been shifting bad

I replaced solenoid A due to a bad shift in gears when going from 20 to 30 and 30 to 40. The problem did not get fixed after that. My transmission fluid turned brown two weeks after changing it. My transmission fluid pan had metal shavings in it as well. Also today I took it out for a spin around the block and this part came off of underside of car. Does anyone know what it is?

Good morning,

Does the car still move? That looks like a part of your axle shaft.

As far as the fluid, since you have metal in the pan, you have something failing in the transmission such as the clutches.

That will effect the shifting issue you have at the moment.

You most likely need to have the transmission replaced.
