my car gets real hot then loses power then stalls out

I was driving my 2004 ford taurus when my temp gauge went up then it went back down then it went back up. Then my car started losing power then it died completely. I changed the spark plugs the wires the water pump and the fuel filter along with the thermalstat and it still does the same thing stalls when idle unless I accelerate the car in neutral. Could somebody give advice please because im lost now.
