my back up camera has a black screen

I am having problems with the back up camera. Took it into the dealer and they said the part I need is $800.00 and of course they would not tell which part. I have looked on the GM parts direct and cannot tell from the parts offered. The sensors work just fine, but the picture is all black. Is it the camera in the tailgate? Or any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

best thing for this is to have a garage mechanic scan for codes to see what you need to fix it unless it is a short. they will tell you what is wrong instead of a dealer. if it is a display it is $1,200.00 from GM parts direct so it is probably not that.
