My 2011 Crown Victoria RPM some times suddenly increasing up to 3000 RPM???

It is a good idea Roy, but I have a questions:
-Is the cruise control controlled by PCM ?
-And is it possible if the PCM sometimes lag?

I know this is a very old post but my car was doing a similar thing, it was the gas pedal, the accelerator pedal has a sensor inside that gets "dirty". Really surprised more people don't have this issue. The good news is it's an easy fix you have 2 options replace the pedal with a new one or take the pedal apart and clean the sensor off. One plug and 3 11mm nuts hold the pedal on. Not saying this is the fix for every car and if you have an issue like this you might want to report it to a Ford dealership. I hope this helps someone in the future, drive by wire issues usually are blamed on the electric throttle body or pcm, but don't over look how the pedal itself works, if the sensor is reading wrong the computer doesn't know you don't have your foot on the pedal.

That is a very common failure but we never got to that point in our discussion.
