So, my vehicle listed above will stall if I accelerate too fast or go above 2,000 regardless of how fast I accelerate. If the truck is in park I can rev it, no problem, it's only when driving. Now I'm asking because I've tried scanning it to get an idea of where to start looking but no codes come up. I was going to try and replace camshaft position sensor and crank position sensor, I'm just hesitant because no codes come up, any idea or anyone with similar problem?

Hi,

When it stalls, does it start right back up? I ask because if not, that would likely be related to the crankshaft position sensor. This sensor can fail and not set a code. Take a look through this link and let me know if it mirrors what you are experiencing:

Next, are there any odd sounds or odors coming from the engine or exhaust? Any strange odors?

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, it will start back up, no strange odors. And kind of similar. Like I said in park engine is fine, as soon as I put it in drive and try to go above 2k or accel too fast it stalls, completely cuts out and drops to 0rpm cold or hot.

Hi,

Then I would suspect either we have a fuel pressure issue, or something, maybe partially plugging the catalytic converter.

Where I would start is with fuel pressure. If it is low, it could be causing this to happen.

Here is a link that explains how to check it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most auto parts stores will lend one to you. Also, I attached the fuel pressure specifications below for you. Note that there are two different pressures. To determine which one is relevant to your vehicle, you need to identify the 8th digit of the vin number. It will be either a T or a V.

Also, take a look through this link as well and let me know if it mirrors anything you are experiencing:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/bad-catalytic-converter-symptoms

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Alright some developments have been made, so the truck threw the code p0336 crankshaft position sensor code. I replaced the sensor and its still doing it. I suspect a wire is messed up somewhere, I've been trying to find a diagram to give me an idea of where to follow the harness to. Haven't found one yet, what other could throw that code if the sensor is good?

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. I attached the wiring between the sensor and the powertrain control module for you below. Additionally, I included the diagnostics related specifically to the code you have.

Take a look through things and let me know if it helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
