Lately I have noticed under hard acceleration it will not let me make any quick shifts. Resulting in missing second or third gear. I have noticed a transmission fluid leak from the transmission housing. I have not had time to address the leak but it has been there for a while. The car shifts fine through all gears under normal cruising conditions it is just under hard acceleration it will not shift. Is this an issue of low transmission fluid?

Hello,

So it could possibly be an issue of low transmission fluid, but it could be from well-used fluid as well. If the fluid has been in there and not changed for a while, just like engine oil it loses its ability to lubricate.

I would definitely check the fluid level (which does require raising the vehicle and supporting it securely with jack stands). There is a level check plug on the side of the transmission. (Since there are two options for manual transmissions I have attached location pictures of both fill plugs).

I think that it goes without saying that you will want to repair the fluid leak from inside the bell housing. The seals are relatively inexpensive, but the process to remove the transmission is not an easy task.

Keep me posted on what you find, and let me know if I can be of any more help!
