Battery light flashing on and off, then stays on

Hello, the battery light just start coming on then off and back on. Then staying on. The battery is less then six months old. I checked the wiring and all seems good. I then noticed a smell coming from the serpentine belt area. Almost electrical in nature. Also there is a high pitch whining sound either in park or when the car is moving. One last thing, the speedometer also started to fluctuate.
