I was told my motor in my car was a bad motor, does that affect the engine?

The engine and motor are the same thing. What are the problems you are having that caused the mechanic to say the engine is bad? What testing has been done? Depending on the issue you normally do not just replace the engine, a lot of problems can even be repaired with it still in the car.

As for what engines fit. It looks like the 3.0 from 03-04 Mazda 6 with a manual transmission are the only ones that fit.

They basically said I have to get a new motor for it. Do you have advice of where I can get a motor for it for less than $700.00?

Does the current engine run? I ask because most places do not just say "you need a new engine" They will tell you why, unless they are hoping that changing the engine fixes something that they cannot diagnose.

$700.00 for the engine and how much for the labor? Who covers the cost if the "new engine" is a junker?
