Is there a compatible engine I can legally change over or will I need to modify? I also need 2000kg tow capacity. Will a more powerful engine be sufficient. Thats the end of my question, is that 200 characters yet?

Legality issues have to be checked with your local transport authorities as different location have diferent rules and regulations and paper work requirements.

Your local junk yard should be able to help you and also provide you with information on compatible engines.
