I have the truck listed above zr2 with the 3.6 engine. This is the off-road package model. It has the trailering package.

What exactly is it about the zr2 package that lowers the towing capacity from 7,000 lbs to 5,000 lbs? The other models with the same engine, trailering pkg, cab, and bed configuration have a higher trailering capacity. What's the reason for the lower capacity? Suspension? Obscure federal laws?

Hi,

That is a very good question. The vehicle is basically the same as other trucks. The only thing I can think of would be the suspension and suspension height. The added height will cause the vehicle to be less stable. To the best of my knowledge, that is the only difference. Remember to follow the manufacturer's recommendations or it will void the warranty and possibly safety.
