I am switching out my ABS hydraulic pump and modulator for a working one.
Will I need this mk 808 scanner to properly bleed the new unit I am putting on the truck? Thanks, Marc

For that replacement you don't need a scan tool, however you do need the special Ford tool to allow you to bleed the controller.

Special Tools Needed:
Description Tool Number
Antilock Brake Adapter (Bleeder Box) T90P-50-ALA
Antilock Brake Adapter T93T-50-ALA
(Jumper Cable)
EEC-IV Breakout Box T83L-50-EEC-IV

Caution: Perform this procedure only if the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) has been replaced. Follow conventional bleed procedures if the HCU is not being replaced.

First do a full system bleed to get out any air in the system first after you mechanically change the parts. Then attach the ABS adapter box (T90P-50-ALA) and the ABS jumper cable (T93T-50-ALA)
Now step on the brake pedal and push the valves button on the ABS bleeder box. The pedal should drop as this step allows the solenoids and valves to open. Release the pedal.
Repeat those steps at least 2 more times and watch the fluid level in the master cylinder.
Now press the Motor Start button. This will cycle the ABS motor on and let it run for about a minute. Now the book says to perform another system bleeding to remove the air you just purged out of the ABS. I prefer to repeat the above and purge the ABS controller a second time as they tend to hold some tiny bubbles in them, and you end up repeating the process anyway.
Now once you have repeated that you can now do the second system bleed to get that air out.
If the master cylinder is the original one doesn't let the pedal go down very far, you don't want to push the piston seals through any corrosion or crud in the bores or you can damage them and then you have to replace the master cylinder and bleed it all again.
