There is a little hum noise from the back of the car at certain speeds. It changes when I press and release the accelerator. Is it the diff? Will a thicker gear oil help?

HI there, A diff will alter pitch with the throttle is feathered, wheel bearings will increase and decrease with road speed, changing the oil may help but the damage is done, the noise will increase and failure will follow if this is not addressed, you may still have some time up your sleeve, get a mechanic to listen to this and get an opinion on the severity of the problem.
