My car makes a popping or clicking noise when turning the steering wheel. My daughter's 17 yr old boyfriend says it probably needs new struts but one of my co-workers says it may be the cv joints. The nearest Mitsubishi shop to me is 75 miles and when I needed a new fuel pump a couple months ago I had to order it from there because no one in my area could get it.Any insight into the noise concerning the steering would be greatly appreciated.

yeah that popping and clicking is you cv joints. usually you can just replace the entire axle because it is the same price is replacing just the cv joints because all the crap they have to go through just to get to them. plus by replacing the whole axle, your getting the new axle also, not just the cv joints
