Montero sport-1997-65,000 miles-6cyl.
I have an oil leak on the passenger side near the front of the engine over where the alternator mounts. If I try to keep the oil level near the normal full mark enough oil is blown out to flood the alternator and cause it to burn up. I have replaced two alternators(exspensive).
If I keep the oil level about 1.5 quarts low, only a little oil is blown out, but there is always the thought of insufficient lubrication.
The leak seems to be where the head is bolted to the intake or upper manifold.

Any ideas?

v-6? could have spit out a cam seal. If so, you should have it taken care of before the timing belt gets too oil saturated and fails causing way bigger expenses.
