My car is a Mitsubishi Sapporro, 1998 model.
The idles fine but while driving the engine suddenly loses power, within some few seconds it kicks back to life without stopping. Its an injector system.
Last week when i tried cleaning the plugs i noticed that there fuel stain on the number three plug and the car presently consume much fuel than it use to.

Suggested Repair

Replace the fuel pump, replace or clean the fuel injectors, and check the connections to the fuel rail.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1998 Mitsubishi Sapporro said the engine idles fine but suddenly loses power while driving, then recovers within a few seconds without stalling. A fuel stain was found on the number three spark plug, and fuel use has increased. An expert suggested a new fuel pump, new fuel injectors or injector cleaner, and a check of the fuel rail connections. Another driver reported similar hesitation from a stop, a diagnosed number 4 cylinder misfire, and plugs already replaced.
