Dies when at idle

I currently have a 2002 mitsu montero sport, v6, 4 wheel drive, auto trans. My problem is that after my battery gets disconneced (for any reason)and then reconnected, ill go back to driving my car and come to a stoplight. At the point where I need to start slowing down to a stop, my car idles down very low and dies unless I get moving again. Im not sure if the battery has anyting at all to do with this, it very well might be a strange coincidence but the idleling is the problem. It has done this two previous times and once it went away on its own while the other time my husband cleaned out some kind of valve that was connected to the idle throttle(?). The car needs a tune up in the worst way but could that be causing the strange dying episodes? Thank you.

Hello, it is normal for the car to die when you replace or disconnect the battery, the vehicle needs to be driven about 20 miles for the computer to relearn the idle speed. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you, thanks for visiting 2Carpros. Com

I have the same problem as the above. I had just replaced my battery 2 months ago, prior to that, I thought my idling was low because my battery had gone. But still, my idling is so low. Now every time I come to a stop light, unless I keep my foot on the gas (and the other foot on the brake to keep it from moving) the engine dies. As soon as I let go of the gas. The idling drops!

Please help!

Thanks!

Have you checked the air intake boot? You could have bummed it and now it is leaking. Please check and get back to me.
