2001 Mitsubishi Catalytic converter?

Hi I drive a 01 eclipse and i am having problems with acceleration it is very sluggish also. I find that when I am at a stop about once a day it happens i push the gas and get a delayed response from the car. Also when trying to get on the freeway I am pushing the gas but not going any faster. I took the car to Jiffy lube they said it sounded like cat converter. Any suggestions? also it idles a little high at times. thank you so very much.

Is or has the check engine light been on?Could very well be the cat, try loosening the exhaust before the converter and see if it runs any better.It will be loud, but if the converter is partially plugged it will run better. If the check engine light is on, have it scanned for codes and get back to us
