2000 Other Mitsubishi Models Timing belt

Engine Performance problem
2000 Other Mitsubishi Models 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a Montero sport. Just replaced the timing belt, water pump and the timing belt tensioner. Line up the marks for the timing; tested it and it said it was right but it doesn’t sound right. Any suggestions?

Did you put the engine no.1 piston on its compression stroke/TDC if not you could be 180deg off-at the exhaust stroke-
