Tires and Wheels problem
1999 Other Mitsubishi Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 135ish miles

well, when I bought this car it only had three wheel studs on the front left tire. I drove it this way for roughly 9 months before it started to cause me any problems. Now, it is broke down in my drive, with another broken stud and one of them stripped. The one that is stripped, isnt stripped on the threads. The teeth on the back of it that hold it into the hub are stripped. I backed the lug nut about half way off before it wouldnt move anymore and just spun with the wheel stud. I have tried justabout everything I can think of the break the stripped stud, however nothing has worked. If anyone has any ideas or knows how to fix this problem please reply asap.

Hi there,

You will have to get an angle grinder to cut the stud in half, you can hire them cheaply, and always use safety glasses as well.

Use a pair of locking plyers and hold the stud, try and locate the plyers so the stud cant turn, drill the stud it starting with a small drill first and working your way up till it is able to be struck with a chisel to sheer it off easily.

Hi there,

Yes that should be OK, make sure that you center the drill carefully, use new bits and work your way up in small increments, get some spray on drill lube so you don't burn out the drill bits.
