Battery has been checked and shows to be good. Alternator also checks out okay; both checks through auto zone & advance.

however, the battery continues to go dead and requires a new battery repeatedly and cannot be driven at night at all.

have also taken the hot battery cable off to see if the car would go dead and it did not go dead.

what could possibly be the problem?

thanks for your insight (mitsubishi mirage)

Hi there,

it sounds like you have a current draw problem. Remove battery Pos (+) and fit an Amp meter between terminal & cable, with key out and doors closed, there should only be about.2Amps max showing, any more and there is a problem some where, If draw is present remove main Alternator cable, if draw drops to normal level, you have a leaking Diode in the alternator, (this won't show up on a charge test) If alt OK, start to pull fuses untill you isolate the problem circute.
